Doug German's Obituary
Decatur- Doug “Undertaker” German, 67, of Decatur, finally went home to be with the Lord after a long time illness on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 in his residence.
Visitation will be held at 9:30 am Tuesday, August 18, 2015 an Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Graveside services to celebrate Doug’s life will be held at 11 am, Tuesday August 18, 2015 in Macon Cemetery, and conclude with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the family of Doug German.
Doug was born on December 15, 1947 in Waukegan, IL the son of Eugene and Lorene (Adams) German, and was raised in Vandalia. He was affiliated with the Maranatha Assembly of God Church of Decatur, as he was a life time member of the DAV Chapter 17 of Decatur, VFW of Vandalia. He married his loving wife Darlene on March 1, 1991 in the Maranatha Assembly of God Church in Decatur, she survives. He worked as an CNC Journeyman Machinist for many years. He proudly served his country during three tours of duty during the Vietnam War, first in the United States Navy from August 1965 thru October 1968 and then served in the United States Air Force from December 1972 thru May, 1975. He enjoyed CB radioing, playing cards, and going to rummage sales.
Besides his loving wife, he is also survived by his son, Richard Douglas German, his step-sons, Daniel E. Parker, Stacey Crowe; daughter, Robin Lorraine Visser; his half-brothers, Ronnie Evans of Pana, Jack Evans of Mattoon, and Richard Evans, he is also survived by the light of his six grandchildren.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Tammy German, half-brother Jerry Evans of Decatur.
