Douglas Kimp's Obituary
Douglas Kimp Jr., 98, of Decatur departed this life on Wednesday September 9, 2009 at 9:30 p.m. in Aspen Ridge Care Center.
Homegoing Celebration will be 11:00 am Wednesday September 16, 2009 in St. John Missionary Baptist Church 1602 E. Moore Street with Rev. Thomas W. Jeffro officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service in the church. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park.
Mr. Kimp was born March 6, 1911 in Helena, Arkansas, the son of Douglas and Mary Kimp Sr. He confessed a love for Christ early in life. He was a dedicated member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church for over 40 years, where he faithfully worked on the Usher Board. During that time he was known as a kind, helpful person, willing to help anyone and in any way he could. He worked for Bob Newbern Auto for many years.
He leaves to cherish fond memories his loving church family; Rev. Thomas Jeffro and members of St. John Missionary Baptist Church; Bishop Calvin Peppers and members of the Church of the Living God Temple #3; his caregivers, Lois and Rosemary at CHELP; the Flagg family; the Belue family; the doctors and nursing staff at Aspen Ridge Care Center; and his God sent caregiver, Mother Marie Oliver.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
The family of Douglas Kimp is being served by Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2801 N. Monroe Street, Decatur, IL.
