Douglas Louis Martin Kirk Sr.'s Obituary
Douglas L M Kirk, Sr., age 68, went home to Jesus on July 11, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 9am to 11am at First Christian Church, 3350 N MacArthur Rd, Decatur, IL 62526. Memorial Service will immediately follow visitation. Officiating is Chris Vieth pastor of Care Ministries.
Doug was born December 11, 1956, in Fairbury, IL, to Mary Olive Kirk and William Cletus Kirk. He graduated from Milford High School and joined the United States Marine Corps. He then met and married Rebecca Lynn Perry on May 26, 1979. Doug was introduced to his passion of firefighting at AE Staley as an industrial fire fighter.
Doug was soon hired by the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal, where he worked until his retirement in 2019.
Doug had a passion for firefighting and Nascar. He was able to combine both passions on weekends where he and his son Doug served as firefighters in the pits of Nascar events in Chicagoland and Gateway.
Doug is survived by his wife Becky; daughter Courtney Kirk (Jason Hicks); son Douglas Kirk Jr. (Jessica); brother Bob Luecke and sister-in-law Diana Luecke; granddaughters Tru Lynn Kirk, Lila Reese Kirk, Aria Jade Kirk, Mira Lynn Kirk and grandson David Oliver Kirk-Hicks; and his many Brothers in Blue of the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal.
Preceding Doug in death are his parents, grandparents, cousins, and many friends.
