Doyle E. Leamons' Obituary
Doyle E. Leamons, 86, of Fairmount, formerly a longtime resident of Newtown, died Thursday, October 15, 2009 in Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.
Doyle was born April 27, 1923, in Vaden, AR, the son of Ernest and Nellie Langley Leamons. A U.S Navy Veteran of World War II serving from 1942-1946, Doyle worked as a Control Room Operator for Illinois Power, mostly at the Vermilion Power Plant, for 33 years before retiring in 1986. He attended No. 10 Church of Christ in Potomac. Doyle married Leona B. Gephart February 14, 1946 in Hot Springs, AR, and she wife preceded him in death December 29, 2005.
Surviving is his son, Nolan Bernice Leamons of Danville; daughters: Janet Daryl Grove of Oakwood and Ruby Jim Berlin of Fairmount; grandchildren: Susanne John III Wyatt of Indianapolis, IN, Adam Grove and Sarah Grove of Oakwood; brothers: Paul Betty Leamons and Burl Charlene Leamons of Camden, AR; various nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Doyle was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Ann; son, Dean; sister, Beth and brothers: Forrest and Glen.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm Sunday, October 18, 2009 at the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Funeral service: 10 am, Monday, October 19, 2009 in the funeral home. Interment with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials: Illini Christian Children's Home, P.O.
