Dre’Shawn Alexander McNeil-Garcia, 14, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away May 5, 2024, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Dre’Shawn was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on May 4, 2010, the much-beloved son of Constance McNeil. In his too-short life, he brought joy and laughter to all those around him. He had an adventurous spirit and was the glue that bonded his family together. He was a strong, bright, and intelligent boy. He loved and was loved deeply. He was cherished as the most beautiful, blessed child, a true gift to his family.
Dre’Shawn is survived by his mom Constance; dad Andrace; stepfather LaTraneal; Godmom Jessika; siblings Aaliyah, LaTraneal Jr., A’lasia, Celine, Harmony, Josiyah, Malaki, Angelo, and Liana; aunts Antoinette, Keauna, Maribel, Shela, and Zeila; uncles Anthony Jr., Lindsey, and Miguel; grandparents Kembria, Carry, Anthony Sr., Renna, Ana, and Tyrone; great-grandparents Minnie, Gloria, Jose, and Ernestina; and a bunch of great uncles/aunts/cousins. He was preceded in death by his siblings Ja’Keem and Angle and his grandfather Enrique.
Private services were held for Dre’Shawn. Burial is in Graceland Cemetery.
