Durma Cheatheam 83 of Peoria, IL formerly of Decatur, IL departed this earth on August 27, 2003 in Proctor Hospital Peoria, IL.
Homegoing services celebrating her life will be 11:00 am Wednesday September 3, 2003 in New Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. Tyrone Oldham officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Services are entrusted to the care of Moran & Goebel Funeral Home 2801 N. Monroe Street. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Cheatheam was born on September 20, 1919 in Oscesola, AR the daughter of Henry and Lula Pittman Cook. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church since 1941.She also had worked as a housekeeper for the Orlando Hotel. She married Roosevelt Cheatheam in 1940 in Oscesola, AR he preceded her in death in 1994.
She leaves not to mourn but to cherish fond memories two sons, Antar Kaunda and Bobby Cheatheam both of Decatur; two daughters, Caroline Jones of Normal and Sheila A. Cheatheam of Urbana; five grandchildren and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Ella Jean Cheatheam, two brothers, eight sisters, and one grandchild.
