Dwight F. Rosenbery's Obituary
Dwight Foster Rosenbery, 88, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026, in Decatur, IL. Born on February 23, 1938, in Mansfield, IL, the son of Foster Rosenbery and Madge (Warren) Taylor.
Dwight married Shirley Shonkwiler on July 25, 1957, at Bement United Methodist Church. He graduated from Mansfield High School in 1956. He worked for Sears, was the proud owner of Sure Sharp, Inc., and after retirement, drove for Bob Brady Auto Mall.
Dwight is survived by his wife — Shirley Rosenbery; children — Vicki (Greg) Briggs of Cisco, IL, David (Nancy) Rosenbery of Argenta, IL; Mike (Kris) Rosenbery of Decatur, IL; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister — Lois Adams of Mansfield, IL; and numerous other family and friends.
Dwight was preceded in death by his parents — Foster Rosenbery and Madge Taylor; stepfather — Robert Taylor; siblings — Fran Dixon, Wanda Christie, and Dale Rosenbery; father-in-law — Elmer Shonkwiler; and mother-in-law — Edna Shonkwiler; and numerous other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church of Bement, IL (164 E Wing St, Bement, IL 62813), Humane Society of Decatur and Macon County (3373 N Woodford St, Decatur, IL 62526), or Macon County Animal Control and Care Center (2820 E Parkway Dr, Decatur, IL 62526).
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Committal services will take place at Friends Creek Cemetery in Argenta, IL, following the funeral. Casual attire is requested.
