Earline Hampton's Obituary
Earline Hampton, 59, of Decatur, Illinois passed from this life Saturday, September 25, 2010 at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 2, 2010 with visitation starting at 10 a.m. in the North Jasper Street Church of Christ where she was a faithful member for 30 years. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Earline was born July 18, 1951 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Earl Welford and Florence Matthews. Earline married Emmett Hampton September 18, 1967 and was a loving housewife for 43 years. She was active in her church singing with the Jasper Street Singers, a member of Ladies Fellowship and attended the Ladies five o’clock class on Sunday evening. She was a member of the Bowser Associated Women that fund raise for Southwestern Christian College in Terrell, TX and she volunteered as a cook in the kitchen for past 20 years. Earline loved being a Christian.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband Emmett; daughters, Patricia Johnnie Hayes, Cynthia Antonio Brown, and Dachanelle Hampton of Decatur, IL; sisters, Sue Whitaker of St. Louis, MO; Mary Matthews of Decatur, IL; and Roberta Matthews Johnson of Jackson, MS; brothers, Earl Natasha Welford of Chattanooga, TN; Robert Betty Ambrose, Kenny Sheila Ambrose, Darnell Joyce Ambrose of Decatur, IL; seven grandchildren, Jalesha, Tymori, LaKiara, Jakendra, Johnann, Jamyra and Jaheim; six great grandchildren, LaTavion, Layonna, Kevion, TiShawn, Damonte and Yancere. Earlene leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends; Billie Graves, Deborah McGee, Betsy Odeneal and her church family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, two sons; Emmett Jr and James, two brothers Curtis and Wayne Matthews and two sisters Gloria Whitley and Barbara Cooper.
The family of Earline Hampton has entrusted the care of their loved one to Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2801 N. Monroe Street, Decatur, IL.
