Earna Mae Taylor's Obituary
Mrs. Earna Mae Taylor, 92, went home to be with the Lord on January 22, 2013 at Aspen Ridge Care Centre.
Earna Mae was born January 14, 1921 in Brownsville, TN to the union of the late Jimmie and Amanda Currie. She accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of Trinity C.M.E. Church. She sang in the choir and was a member of the Courtesy Club until her health failed.
She married the late Leroy Taylor March 21, 1942. There were no children born to this union, but she helped raise her stepson, the late Albert Lee Taylor (Sixteen) and her great nephew James A. Cook, as her own sons. She treated all of her nieces and nephews as her own children. She loved all the neighborhood children who lived around her on Hilton and William Streets. Earna Mae worked as a secretary at Taylor Transfer, with her husband, which they owned until they retired. She loved the family Bar-B-Qs, and made the best homemade ice cream. At Christmas time, the family loved to gather in her home.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, sister-in-law Jeanette Taylor, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a special cousin Charlie Taylor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, stepson, brother-in-law J.D. Taylor and two sisters-in-law; Mary and Hazel.
Homegoing Celebration will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2013 in Trinity C.M.E. Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.
The family would like to thank the staff at Aspen Ridge Care Centre for the special care they gave to our loved one.
The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Moran & Goebel and Cremation Services, 2801 N Monroe St., Decatur, IL.
