Edward Bacon's Obituary
Springfield – Edward Enoch Bacon, 80, of Springfield passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 in his home.
Edward was born on January 20, 1932 in Springfield, IL the son of William and Margaret (Flynn) Bacon. He served his country proudly in the US Army. He fought on the front lines during the Korean War in the 101 st Airborne Division as an infantryman. He was a member of Calvary Temple Church in Springfield. His interests included motorcycles, cars, and photography. He married Earlene Newberry on December 28, 1957 in Springfield, IL.
Surviving are his wife, Earlene; sons, William Joseph Bacon (Kathleen) of Springfield; Robert Edward Bacon of DeKalb; Edward Enoch Bacon Jr.(Susan) of Decatur; daughter, Elizabeth Hartry (Neal) of Dawson; sister, Rosemary Royals (Bill) of Florida; sister-in-law, Barbara Bacon of Springfield; 10 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bill Bacon, and sister, Shirley Bostic.
Funeral service to celebrate Edward's life will be 11:30 am Tuesday, January 15, 2013 in Calvary Temple Church, Springfield. Visitation will be 10:30 -11:30 am Tuesday in the church. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery with military rites conducted by Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County. Memorials are suggested to Calvary Temple Church, Springfield
