A joy to know and be around. One of the few WWII vets around that I could share stories. He was in the air and I was on the ground. I will truly miss his conversation, teasing and sense of humor. A gentleman and good friend.

I loved Mr. H! He was so generous and kind. I was fortunate enough to go on a fishing trip that he sent his employees on to Canada in groups and I had the best time I’ve ever had and several of us girls caught trophy walleyes and he had them mounted for us! So awesome! One morning he brought in a goose that he had smoked and put it on my desk for us girls to share and I, never having eaten goose before dug in and before I knew it, it was devoured! He came back in the office 30 minutes later and looked at the bones and said, JC Cris what happened to that goose! He laughed his butt off all day about it! Before he left when he sold the dealership, he called me in his office and wanted to know if I wanted his letter opener he always used and Yes, I took it like it was gold! I am so privileged that I had him for a boss for 18 years! Rest in Peace Mr. H💙🙏
I’m saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Hazelhurst. I have nothing but fond memories of him. My prayers go out to the family.
I had just got out of the army in 1971 and got to spend the next 34 years of my life with the BEST BOSS any one could ever have. His generosity to all of his employees included goose hunting in southern Illinois, fishing trips to Gods Lake in Canada, golf outings and many memorable Christmas parties. My deepest sympathy and prayers for all of you, and please know how much he truly meant to me.
Sincerely,
Doug Ward
