Elbert Manricus Vermast

Elbert Manricus Vermast was born in Jakarta, Indonesia, educated in Holland and served in the Royal Dutch Army. He married Mireya Dekoop in 1961, and they have four children and he worked as an electrical engineer for Consolidated Edison in New York for many years. After his retirement he moved to Decatur, married Patsy Brodnicki in 2003, and taught math at Richland Community College. Bert attended the Decatur Salvation Army Citadel and volunteered his services to the youth outreach at the Salvation Army and the Senior Nutrition Program.
Bert leaves his son Paul Alexander Vermast, wife Lynda, children, Nicholas Adam, Katelyn Nichole and Tia Nichole, son Robert Raymond Vermast, daughter Aimee Desiree Dowd, husband, Patrick, daughter, Denise Jacqueline Vermast, children Jacqueline Secor and Anthony Q. Manerino, and his wife Patsy Brodnicki Vermast and her sons Derek, Christopher, and Kevin Brodnicki and families.
Bert was preceded in death by his parents, Ernst and Johanna Vermast.
Bert Vermast will be lovingly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation: 5-8 pm Thursday March 23, 2006 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and one hour before services in the Citadel.
Service: 11 am Friday March 24, 2006 in the Salvation Army Citadel.
