Eleanor Louise Grundler's Obituary
Eleanor Louise Grundler, 91, of Decatur, passed away Friday, September 17, 2010 at her home.
She was born June 2, 1919 in Macomb, Illinois, the daughter of William Lewis and Ella Mae Cashman Runkle. She married Joseph Francis Grundler on August 17, 1946 in Princeville, Illinois.
Louise taught Business Education at Princeville Community High School, Mt. Zion High School and MacAuthur Decatur High School. She was also a Counselor at MacAuthur. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Decatur and attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Lake Wales, Florida; member of Alpha Delta Kappa Gamma Chapter, P.E.O. Chapter CX; South Side Country Club; Lake Wales Country Club, Lake Wales Florida and former member of Zonta International. Her community service was primarily through activities of Alpha Delta Kappa and Zonta. Her interests included golf and bridge.
Louise is survived by her husband; sister, Lora Mae Robert, deceased Van Fleet, Galesburg, Nephews: James Harriet McGaughey, Vermont; William Becky Van Fleet, Galesburg; Rodney Jan Van Fleet, Aurora; Richard Van Fleet, LaJolla, California; and Mark Nancy Van Fleet, Aurora; Nieces: Sharon Kenney, Calabasas, California; Margaret Walt Schmick, Littleton, Colorado and Lora Beth Bill Morrow, Freeport; nine great nephews, five great nieces, four great, great nephews and ten great, great nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Evelyn McGaughey Vance; brother, Dale Runkle; niece Betty Lou McGaughey, and great nephew Bradley Brookhart.
Memorial Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M on Monday September 20, 2010 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Decatur, Rev. Joe Molloy, celebrant. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the services at the church. Internment will be in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery in O’Dell, Illinois at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to: St. John’s Hospice or Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois.
