Eleanor Monska Maxwell's Obituary
Eleanor Monska-Maxwell, 96, of Decatur, passed away Friday, May 28, 2010 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Eleanor was born October 22, 1913, in Ijui, Brazil, the daughter of Rev. Emil P. Mueller and Eleanor Lange Mueller, Missouri Synod Missionaries. She returned to the United States in 1920 and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church for over 80 years.
She married Fred Monska on February 4, 1938 and he preceded her in death on November 13, 1971. She then married John Maxwell on August 18, 1974 and he preceded her in death on September 24, 1997.
She is survived by her son, Fred Barb Monska and daughter, Ruth Fred Rhodes of Decatur; grandchildren: Freddie Heather Monska, Annette Collins, Robert Becky Monska, Rhonda Ron Dingus, Stacey Rodney Wildman, and Jeff Pennie Rhodes; six great grandchildren; brother, Walter Mueller of California; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
Eleanor enjoyed her church, her family, gardening, sewing, and china painting.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; one sister and five brothers.
Visitation will be from 12 pm until the service time at 1 pm Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Macon County Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials gifts may be directed to: St. John’s Lutheran Church.
