Eleanor L. Sullivan's Obituary
Decatur – Eleanor L. Sullivan, 87, of Decatur, formerly of Assumption, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016 in Hickory Point Christian Village with her family by her side.
Eleanor was born in April 23, 1929 in Pana, IL, the daughter of Carl and Teresa (Endris) Bower. She was a homemaker; member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Assumption and had been attending Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church here in Decatur. While her kids were attending Our Lady of Lourdes School, Eleanor volunteered in the office and was a past president of the Ladies Guild. She also volunteered for the United Way and was a Den Mother. Eleanor married Donald William “Bill” Sullivan on April 24, 1948 in Pana, IL.
Eleanor is survived by her husband, Bill of Decatur; children: Donald W. (Celeste) Sullivan, Jr., of Muscatine, IA, Robert B. (Kristina) Sullivan of Sheboygan Falls, WI, Charles L. Sullivan of Cleveland, OH, and Greg Sullivan of Decatur. She is also survived by five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 5 to 7 at the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home; vigil prayer service will be at 4:30 pm. An additional visitation will be one hour prior to Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am Thursday, May 5, 2016 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Assumption, IL, Rev. Donald Wolford, celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Assumption, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Assumption V.F.W. Post #6577 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
