Eleanor Ann Parks Williams' Obituary
Eleanor Ann Parks Williams died on December 10,2023. Born in Centralia IL on December 30, 1928, she was the daughter of Regis and Dorothy Parks. Eleanor graduated from DePaul School of Nursing in 1950 and was very proud of her years as a working RN. Many of those years were spent at the Decatur Tuberculosis Sanatorium.
In 1950 Eleanor married Bill Williams. They were married for nearly 65 years until his death in 2015.
Eleanor is survived by her sister, Sharon Miller of Temecula, CA, 4 children, Ann (Pat) Dawson, Jill Taylor, Kerry (Corrinne) Williams, Erin (Dave) Miller 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; son, Kevin; sister, Merry Jennings and one grandchild, Andy Dawson.
Eleanor loved to travel and enjoyed seeing the world. Her second passion was playing bridge, a game she enjoyed until the end of her life. She was an avid Reader and read several books a week until her eyes began to fail her at the end of her life. She was also a dedicated volunteer, donating many hours as a nurse for CHIC, and as a hospice volunteer.
Services will be held on Friday December 15 at Moran and Goebel Funeral Home. A brief visitation will be held from 1-2 PM followed by a service. A burial will immediately follow at Boiling Springs Cemetery.
Memorial may be made to St. Teresa High School or Decatur Macon County Animal Shelter.
