Elizabeth Anne "Betty" McElroy's Obituary
Elizabeth Anne “Betty” McElroy, 81, of Decatur, died Saturday, December 31, 2011 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Betty was born to Hugh Clark and Ida Hilary Cox Kleckner January 18, 1930 in Aurora. IL. She married Richard Dick McElroy March 31, 1951 in Aurora. The family moved to Decatur, IL in 1957 and became members of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Betty worked as a sales associate for many years retiring in 1989.
Survivors include three sons: Michael T. Lynn McElroy, Patrick T. Barbara McElroy, Timothy P. Leslie McElroy of Decatur; two daughters: Ellen M. McElroy-Kenworth of Springfield and Anne E. McElroy of Decatur; grandchildren: Hilary and Colin Runion, Byrnes Kenworth, Conor and Brennan McElroy, Matthew McElroy, Dixie McElroy, and Colleen and Hayden Athey; sisters-in-law: Shirley Kleckner of Aurora and Sally Tom Cocks of Tomahawk, WI; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers: H. Malburn Dorothy of Sequesta, FL and Bill Kleckner of Aurora.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2012, in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Rev. John Burnette celebrant. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 4, 2012 from 4 to 7 pm in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick School or St. Teresa High School Education Department.
