Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Velchek's Obituary
Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Velchek, 80, of Decatur, formerly of Gary, IN, died Monday, November 08, 2010 in Kishwaukee Hospital, DeKalb.
She was born March 23, 1930, in Chicago, the daughter of Andrew E. and Alice Phillips Velchek, Sr. Betty played the organ and was a past member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and Blessed Sacrament Choir & Rosary Sodality in Gary, IN.
Surviving are her brothers, Gene Dina Velchek of Decatur and Richard and Robert Velchek. Betty was also a nanny and mother figure to: Lawrence "Buddy" Coulehan, Susan Schwerd, William "Billie" Coulehan and Nancy Coulehan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Dave, Andrew and Bill; sister, Mary Lou, two infant siblings; best friend, Alice Bartley and beloved dog, Albe.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. with a rosary service at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 2010 in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, November 12, 2010 in Holy Family Catholic Church with interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Decatur.
