Ella J Hines' Obituary
Ella Jean Hines, 72, of Decatur, IL died Monday, June 4, 2012 in St. Francis Hospital Peoria, IL.
Ella Jean was born on October 13, 1939 in Springfield, IL the daughter of the late Lieutenant Alvin Wade Kirk Sr. and the late Marcella May (King) Kirk. She graduated from Feitshans High School in Springfield, IL she attended CNA training at Decatur Memorial Hospital. She married Nathaniel Hines Sr. in 1960 at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Springfield, IL the couple moved to Decatur, IL in 1960. She had two children, Nathaniel Hines Jr. and Daniel Eugene Hines. She was an active member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where she was a pianist for the senior choir for over 30 years. She was a traveling soloist for many banquets in Decatur and Springfield. She was an active member of St. Mary's Order of the Eastern Star #65, Order of the Golden Circle Menelik #58, Daughter of Isis, and the Noble until her health failed.
She leaves not to mourn her husband, Nathaniel Hines Sr.; two sons, Nathaniel Hines Jr. and Daniel Eugene Hines; one sister, Sandra Kay Shaw husband Roger of Decatur, IL; one brother, Alvin Wade, Kirk Jr. of Decatur, IL; one brother-in-law, Dr. Curtis Hines of Waukegan, IL; sisters-in-law, Gerthalene (Hines) Jefferson (Harry) of White Plains, NY; Priscilla Kirk of Decatur, IL; Joyce (Kirk) Galbreath of Springfield, IL; special niece, Marsha A. Gray and husband Robert Lavail; special niece, Alice M. Hicks and husband Gary Lee; a special neighbor Ms. Juanita Reed; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Marcella May (King) Kirk; Alvin Wade Kirk Sr.; sister, Sharon Irwin Jones; mother-in-law, Nobie Hines; father-in-law, Sylvester Hines; brothers-in-law, Albert Hines and Norris Hines.
On Monday, June 4, 2012 surrounded by her beloved family members Ella Jean's soul departed quietly from this life into eternal life as she took hold of Jesus' hands to embrace his promises. Ella Jean our mother, our sister, our aunt will be truly missed but the love she shared with others will never be forgotten.
The Hines would like to express their gratitude for the many cards, calls, food, and other acts of kindness shown to them during this emotional and sadness and spiritual draining. The family has one request of you please continue to pray for the times ahead in which their loved one will continue to be missed. Special thank you goes to Peoria Cancer Care Center, Dr. Rebecca Byler-Dan and medical staff, and OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Forest Park building 1700 staff in Peoria, IL.
A very special thank you goes to her sister Sandra Shaw who was there at the beginning of the journey until the end.
Homegoing celebration will be 11 AM Friday, June 15, 2012 in Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be 5-7 PM on Thursday in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with an Eastern Star service burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park and conclude with the 'Flight Home' ceremony.
