Ella Mae Pratt's Obituary
Decatur- Ella Mae 'Granny' Pratt, 101, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2012 in St. Mary's Hospital.
Services to celebrate Granny's life will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Ella was born June 22, 1911 in Ramsey, the daughter of Jesse and Sarah (Rhodes) Cole. She was in the restaurant business starting out as a waitress, working her way up to manager, and even owned/operated her own restaurant. Her last job was a senior companion at CHELP retiring at the age of ninety-five. She was recognized as Macon County's outstanding senior volunteer in 2001. She also received the 2001 Volunteer of the Year Award in honor of Jane Lohmann from East Central Illinois Area Agency on Aging at the age of ninety. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She married Jeff Pratt October 3, 1931 in Hillsboro. He preceded her in death.
She leaves behind her granddaughters Brenda Richardson and Guy O'Brien of Decatur and Cheryl (John) Talbot of San Marcos, California, great-grandchildren Jeremy Richardson and Carson of Decatur and Nasha (Kyle) Dequillettes of Vista, California, great-great-grandchildren Dakota Mae Richardson of Decatur and Kade Dequillettes of Vista, California, brother Lyle (Linda) Cole of Hillsboro, sister Geneva Roady of Decatur, daughter-in-law Bernice Pratt, step-grandchildren Danny (Susan) Pratt of Tucson, Arizona, Dale Pratt of Peoria, and Donna (Tom) Myers of Dalton City, six step-great-grandchildren, five step-great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was reunited in Heaven with her parents, husband, sons Lyle and Luther Pratt, step-son Ivan Pratt, seven brothers, four sisters, and a step-grandson.
Granny was an inspirational person to everyone that has ever met her. She loved to sit with her friends and family and tell all of her wonderful life stories.
Granny touched the hearts and lives of all who knew her and will be greatly missed but never forgotten by all of her family and friends.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Rademacher, Dr. Huss and staff, and Lakeshore Connection for all of their care and help for Granny over the past years. Also a special thanks to Lou, Sandy, Bernice, Mildred, Kelly, Penny, Charlotte, Susie, Brandi, Jerry, Linda, Cathy with CVS, and Lyneé for all their love and support through all the many years.
