Ellis E. Miles' Obituary
Ellis E. Miles, 85, of Decatur, died Monday, October 18, 2010 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Ellis was born May 8, 1925, in Florence, AL, the son of Christopher Columbus and Cora Butler Miles. A U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, Ellis worked at Wagner Castings before retiring in 1985. He attended the Church of Christ and loved wood working, fishing, watching NASCAR and wrestling. He married Ollie Jane McKnight on Nov. 19, 1952 in Muncie, IN, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 16, 2006.
Surviving are his children: David Becky Miles of Danville, Brenda Dave Walker of Pensacola, FL, Linda Dildine of Decatur, Columbus Sandy Miles of Decatur, and Barbara Tom Robinson of Oakley; twelve grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren; three brothers and five sisters; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ellis was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Norris Lynn and grandson, Kevin Walker.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 21, 2010 from 6 to 8 pm in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Private burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Decatur. Memorials: Homeward Bound Pet Shelter.
