Elsie Mae Burton's Obituary
Elsie Mae Burton, 71 of Richmond Va., formerly of Decatur died on Saturday March 15, 2003 in Richmond Va.
Funeral Services will be 11:30 A.M. Wednesday in J. J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Riverton, with military rites conducted by the Inter Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County. Memorials may be made to the Elsie Mae Burton Memorial Fund.
Elsie was born in Princeton Indiana on September 9, 1931 the daughter of Carl and Lena Beckwith Griffin. She was a member of Maranatha Assembly of God. Elsie worked as a bookkeeper at the signal depot, and proudly served our country, in the Army, during the Korean War. She married Roy Burton in June of 1953 and he survives.
Surviving are her sons: Carl Burton Faye of Hanover, VA.; John Burton Nancy of Springfield; Stan Burton Theresa of Decatur; daughter, Susan Burton of Richmond, VA.; brother, Robert Griffin Kay of Princeton, IN.; sisters: Ada Slavik of Princeton, IN.; Rose Hueby of Indianapolis, IN.; Ruth Neilsen of Morris, IL.; 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Her parents preceded her in death.
