Elsie M Carter's Obituary
Elsie M. Carter of Forsyth passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 in her home.
Elsie was born on July 23, 1928 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Benjamin H. and Sarah L. Yetter Smyers. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Decatur and sang in the choir. She worked at Staley’s and Millikin Mortgage and volunteered at church, Dove, and DMH. She married Omer Lyle Carter on November 24, 1946 in Decatur he preceded her in death on October 24, 2005.
Surviving are her children, Terrie Meyer Kenneth of OH; Garry L. Carter Sandra of Dublin, CA; Nancy Elliott Jay of Fisher, IL; Cindy Jenkins Rob of Decatur; Douglas Carter Julie of Jacksonville, FL; 15 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister, Mary Golembeck.
Funeral service celebrating Elsie’s life will be 11:00 Friday, November 5, 2010 in First Baptist Church, 1320 Arbor Drive, Decatur with Pastor Steve Mechem officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 ' 7:00 pm Thursday in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church.
