Elsie L. Wallace's Obituary
Elsie L. “Tippy” Wallace went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 30, 2010 in St. Mary’s Hospital.
Tippy was born on January 23, 1938 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Lee Roy and Elsie Mae Starks Grayned. She was a faithful member of the Church of the Living God in Springfield, IL. She retired after 41 years as a nurse at St, Mary’s Hospital, in 2000 she was awarded “Nurse’s in Excellence”, in 1988 won “Most Valuable People Award”, she served as president of “Women’s Work” at the Church of the Living God, CPR instructor, and Secretary of the organization “Young Adults for Youth Advancement. Tippy married the love of her life, Wellington Wallace Jr. on January 28, 1956 in Decatur, IL.
She leaves to cherish fond memories her husband, Wellington Wallace Jr. sister, Mary Ellen Rawls Thomas of Decatur; brother, Delbert Grayned Veoria of Decatur; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Grayned of Decatur; Rhonda Grayned of San Diego, CA; brother-in-law Charles Wallace Robin of Decatur; a host of nieces, nephews, several other relatives, friend, and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Jon F. Grayned, George Grayned, Charles Grayned, Eldridge Grayned, Lee Roy Grayned Otha Grayned, and sister, Thelma Taylor.
The family would like to give a special thanks to all of her doctors, nurses, and the staff at the Cancer Care Specialist of Central Illinois for all the compassionate care that they provided Tippy.
Homegoing service will be 12 noon Saturday, January 8, 2011 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6:00 ' 8:00 pm Friday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
