Emma S Taylor's Obituary
Emma Sue Taylor, 90, of Decatur, IL went home to live with the Lord peacefully on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital with her family by her side.
Mrs. Emma Sue was born on October 6, 1921 in Brownsville, TN to the union of the late Henry Williams and Edmonia Turner-Williams. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She joined St. Peters C.M.E. Church in Brownsville, TN. She married Joe Taylor on January 16, 1937. To this union eight children were born. Many years later, Mrs. Emma Sue and her family moved to Decatur, IL. While residing in Decatur she worked and retired as a cook. She also attended Trinity C.M.E. Church until her health failed. She was greatly loved by all who knew her. She was a loving person who was there for you, and she would help you in any way she could. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, fishing, and spending time with family and friends, but, most of all she loved the Lord.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, daughters; Mary Emma Boyd of Memphis, TN; Monie Sue Wills of Decatur IL; Jossie Grant of Beloit, WI; Odelia Parker, Sherlene Goodman Lee, Joyce Taylor and Linda Perkins all of Decatur, IL; son, Joe Edward Taylor, Jr. of Decatur, IL; 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, late husband, Joe Taylor, one grandchild, two great-great grandchildren, and her one and only sister, Mary L. Walker, five brothers-in-law, and three sisters-in-law.
Homegoing celebration will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 26, 2012, in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Decatur, IL with Pastor Samuel Hutson III, officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the chapel. Burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, including the “Flight Home” ceremony.
The Taylor Family would like to give a special thanks to the St. Mary’s Hospital Chaplains, and Pastor Samuel Hutson III, as well as the fourth floor St. Mary’s Hospital Staff. We would also like to thank Dr. Ahmad H. Ahmad and Dr. Newlin, Dr. Davis, and Dr. Baumberger. We would also like to thank Addus Healthcare, Decatur Memorial Hospital Physical Therapy Staff, Shining Point, Decatur Memorial Hospital Medical Supply, and Meals on Wheels. The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude for the care and prayers given toward our loved one.
