Erma M. Hines' Obituary
Erma M. Brown Hines, 84, of Elgin, formally of Decatur departed this life on July 07, 2005 in St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
Homegoing services will be 11:00 am Monday July 11, 2005 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, where visitation will be one hour before services. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park in Harristown. You may view the online obituary and send condolences to the Hines family www.moranandgoebel.com.
Erma was born May 11, 1921 in Maunie, IL the daughter of Charles and Jessie Laddy Brown. She was educated in the School systems of Illinois and Indiana. She lived and worked in St. Louis, MO for nine years, working at Portney Garment Factory and Kroger Food Stores.
Erma married Kenneth Hines August 1949 in Chicago and moved to Decatur, IL. She worked in retail positions for many years, and retiring from Glick's Furriers in Decatur in 1982 and Ed Dora Fashions in 1997. She was a member of St. Peters A.M.E. Church, Decatur, IL
Erma is survived by a sister, Ethel Roland of Harrisburg, IL; two nieces, Zola Gilliam of Elgin, IL; and Charlene Hodge of Harrisburg, IL; three nephews, Dennis Roland and Randy Roland both of Elgin, IL; and Charles Brown Jr. of Detroit, MI; special cousins, Ivan Williams of Decatur; two daughters, Mary Jane Edward Bowman of Racine, WI; and Shirley Clarence Taylor of Decatur; five great nieces, four great nephews, 3 great – great nieces, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and three great - great grandchildren, she is further survived by many other cousins, relatives and friends, and special friend, Joanne Harding.
She was preceded in death by her husband on August 01, 2001, parents, one brother, five uncles, and two aunts.
