Erma Reed's Obituary
Erma J. Reed transition to paradise on May 21, 2021, surrounded by her family.
Erma, the daughter of Odell and Bertha (Greer) Reed, was born on November 16, 1949, in Brownsville, Tennessee.
She leaves to cherish memories—her soul mate of forty-nine years, Thomas Reed Jr, three daughters-Janetta Warren (Bobby), Jacqueline Reed (special friend-Jimmy Henning) of Decatur, Diana Perrin (Milton) of Las Vegas. One brother-James T. Reed Sr. (Sylvia) of Decatur; five sisters– Bertha Byrd of Rockford, Mary Pickett (Leslie), Mildora Childress, Alma Phillips, and Lutricia Reed of Decatur. She adored five grandchildren Latarree Reed, Jameshia Henning, Quon Cotton, Dmon Cotton, Vontrez Cotton. Five great-grandchildren in which she treasured– Ja’Niyah Hendrix, Ja’Kyla Henning, A’ziyiah Harden, Nalan Cotton, Ja’Layah Henning; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.
Erma attended Mr. John’s School of Cosmetology. While working at Shade of Color and Hair Base 2000, she was known as one of the best shampoo girls in Decatur, IL.
Erma was a parodical daughter who came back into a relationship with Jesus Christ in 2018. She loved to listen and read her Bible along with televangelist Creflo Dollar. Erma was taught about discipleship by attending Kingdom Come Ministries under the leadership of Apostle William Rogers Jr. and Prophetess Dr. Donna Rogers. Also, Interim Pastor Tyronne Gilliam.
Despite all her physical struggles, she often stated of Jesus-“That’s a Good Man.”
Homegoing Services to celebrate Erma’s life will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Kingdom Come Ministries, 321 E. Leafland Ave. Decatur, IL. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the church. Erma’s earthly remains will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Decatur.
