Eva Katherine South's Obituary
Decatur- Eva Katherine South, 80, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital, with her family at her bedside.
A service to celebrate the life of Katherine will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Mt. Gilead Cemetery with the 'Flight Home' ceremony to conclude services. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Central Baptist Church.
Katherine was born March 31, 1932, Jenkin Jones, West Virginia. She married Raymond T. South Jr. on January 18th, 1952 in Springfield, IL.
She was an upholstery seamstress and for many years worked at the local A & P grocery. Katherine liked to garden, fish, ride her John Deere and work in her yard. Some of her fondest memories are of spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. And most of all Katherine loved to serve her Lord with all of her heart.
She is survived by her daughter Teresa (Ken) Snead, daughter Judy (Van) Garrett, son Raymond South III (Cindy Pollert), 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, brother Robert (Shelby) Poszich, sister Maxine Gillespie, many nieces, nephews and special friends Gail & Carl Venters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 6 brothers, 4 sisters and special friend Vora Seeley.
The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Ballard, Dr. Esparaz, Home Health Nurse Nell, Heritage Health Care, and St. Mary's 4th floor staff for their exceptional care and kindness during her illness
