Evelyn R. Stewart's Obituary
Evelyn R. Stewart, 79, of Decatur passed away at 10:30 am Sunday October 09, 2005 in her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be 10 am Thursday October 13, 2005 in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, where visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery in Long Creek Township. Memorials may be given to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Peoples Church of God. Evelyn was born on March 30, 1926 in Walnut Grove, IL, the daughter of Walter and Pearl Mitchell Rhodes. She married Chandis Stewart on February 20, 1946 in Sistersville, WV. She was co-owner along with her husband of the Stewart’s Sewing Center of Decatur and Mount Zion. Evelyn was a member of People’s Church of God. Evelyn was past president and former member of the Lioness Club of Decatur.
Evelyn is survived by her loving husband of  59 years; son, Michael and wife Susan Stewart of Mount Zion; daughters, Jana Wrigley and husband Daniel F.  of Decatur and Susan Newell and husband John of Mount Zion; three brothers, Dale Rhodes of Washington, IL, Dean Rhodes of Fort Morgan, CO and Jim Rhodes of New Castle, CO; sisters, Alice Jones of Peoria, IL, Bernice Landers of Las Vegas, NV, Lois Kuckling of Quincy, IL and Patricia Whitford of Plymouth, IL; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by both of her parents, one son Craig Allen Stewart, one daughter, Candy Kreher and two brothers, and one sister.
The family of Evelyn would like to send out a special thank you to Dr. Velasco, the nursing staff of Cancer Care Specialist, Dr. Rademacher,  DMH Hospice Staff especially CNA Diana Forden, 5100 Nursing staff and all the friends and family for your prayers and concern shown during Evelyn’s Illness.
