Everland Jones Sanders, 67, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 12:50 P.M. on Tuesday (03-14-2023) in Fair Havens Senior Living, Decatur, IL.
Everland was born on October 3, 1955, in Clarksdale, MS, the daughter of Joe Henry Jones and Aretha (Huggins) Jones. She married Willie B. Sanders on January 14,1972, in Clarksdale, MS. He preceded her in death.
Everland accepted Christ at an early age. She was a lady who had a heart of gold and helped anyone in need. Everland also loved to go shopping at the thrift stores with her best friends Diana, Cynthia, and Terry. Everland had a funny saying for everything, and her favorite one was “This is not a bank, if you are looking for money you’re at the wrong place.” She was a very outspoken woman.
Everland is survived by her children: Willie DeVeile Sanders of Decatur, IL, and Everland Denise Yvette Sanders of Decatur, IL; one brother Ernest Huggins of Clarksdale, Mississippi; five grandchildren: Shina (Donnie) Miner, Killiean Sanders, Tramichael Sanders, Jadyn Sanders, and Aidyn Sanders; and five great-grandchildren: Ja’Kyla, Killiean, Jr., Ki’aire, Koreion, and one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Demetrius Sanders, one brother Joe “Sonny” Henry Jones, Jr., and one sister Rosalie Willis.
