Flora Ann Boyd's Obituary
The beautiful life of Flora Ann Boyd began on December 28, 1956; she was born to Albert Boyd and Flora Mae Boyd in Brownsville, Tennessee. Flora was a traveling woman; she resided in Memphis, Tennessee; Jackson, Tennessee; Decatur, Illinois; Belleville, Illinois and finally Collinsville, Illinois.
Flora gave her life to God as a young child; she was a faithful member and servant at St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church under Rev Thomas Jeffero’s leadership until the 2020 pandemic; at St. John’s she served on the usher board, announcement clerk; Sunday School Treasurer and Praise Team Director post pandemic she spent her time fellowshipping at Church of Jesus Christ under the leadership of Pastor Mac and Mary Mabon.
Flora graduated from Douglas Macarthur High School; she received her Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate from the Decatur Area Vocational Center; certificate in carpentry from Shelby State College and countless other certificates from Richland Community College. Whatever Flora wanted to do she conquered it effortlessly.
Flora had an extensive, impressive and diverse resume; she entered the workforce at sixteen as a crew member at McDonald’s; after graduating High School, her career background began to develop; she worked as an underwriter for Federal Kemper Insurance Company, cashier for Shelby State College, storekeeper for Fashion Lane Department Store, CNA for Oak Manor Nursing Home, housekeeper and file clerk for St. Mary’s Hospital, CNA for Aspen Ridge Nursing Home and CNA for Decatur Memorial Hospital where she worked until retirement.
No matter what Flora did, she put her all into it and left her STAMP on it! Her presence, her heart, her spirit and her intentions were always pure. Flora was a strong, independent woman; who stopped at nothing to help any and every one; she didn’t sugarcoat anything so if she hurt your feelings it was not intentional.
When her health began to decline, Flora’s daughter moved her away to be with her and her family who cared for her until the end; she never left her mother’s side. In the early morning on November 23, 2025, Flora looked around to see if anyone was watching before she took her last breath; she snuck out of here and went to her heavenly home. No more pain, no more suffering, no more fear, no more doubt, no more sadness; only peace and joy.
