Frances Nora Jones' Obituary
Decatur – Frances Nora Jones, 95, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2023, at St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur, IL.
Frances was born September 02, 1928, in Pana, IL, the daughter of Frank and Catherine (Turley) Drescik. She graduated from Pana Township High School with the class of 1946. She then worked for State Farm Insurance Company in Bloomington, IL, and went to school at Illinois State University. She graduated from Illinois State University in 1951 with a bachelor's degree in education. She then worked as a teacher for Decatur Public School District #61 at John’s Hill Jr. High School where she met her husband Donald E. Jones. They were married in Pana, IL, on August 20, 1955, and he preceded her in death on August 15, 1998. Frances was also preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother and 2 sisters.
Frances was a charter member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a member of the Illinois State University Alumni Association and Decatur Quilters Guild. She loved going to morning mass, making quilts, gardening, reading, playing bridge, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children: Susan (Joe) Rainey of Naperville, Gregory (Larissa) Jones of Lake Zurich, Stephen (Angela) Jones of MO; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be from 10 am until the funeral mass time of 11 am, Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Holy Family Catholic Church.
