Frances L. Sterling's Obituary
Decatur-Frances L. Sterling, 89, of Decatur, passed away at 12:05 AM Saturday, May 07, 2016 with her family by her side.
Frances was born November 20, 1926 in Decatur the oldest of eight children to Herman F. and Martha (Sobieski) Koshinski. She married Bobby J. Grubaugh December 31, 1948 in Arkansas. He preceded her in death November 15, 1949. She then married Richard J. Sterling December 15, 1954 in Granite City. He preceded her in death December 10, 2000.
She was previously employed with Osgood Garment Factory retiring in 1974 after thirty years of service. She was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed summer, camping with friends, and researching her families genealogy. Frances was a member of the Women’s Bowling Association and the Decatur Genealogical Society.
Surviving is her son Mark (Janiece) Sterling, daughter Marymartha Sterling, grandchildren James, RJ, Stephanie and Mikal, great-grandchildren Taylor, Michael, Kalob, Chloe, Nick, and Lexi, brother Walter Koshinski of Ephrata, PA, sister Barbara (John) Williams of Winston, SC., sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, son Rickie L. Grubaugh, brothers Eugene, Leo, and Herman “Doc”, and sisters Mary Helen and Norman.
Honoring Frances’ wishes cremation services will be held. No services are planned at this time.
