I just found this obit about my 7th grade science teacher Ms. Frankye Morgan. Early 1970s Roosevelt Junior High. Truly a teacher who should've received more recognition. She was a firm but fair teacher. She even stood up to racism in our class at a time when others turned a blind eye. It was not tolerated by her. To have friends of a different skin color subjected one to being bullied back then. I will never forget her speaking up for us. Subjecting her ownself to these cruel students. But they didnt say a word back!! She confided that her grandparents were slaves. I wish I could remember everything she said that day but I'm getting older. I wish I had gone back and visited her after I grew up. RIP Ms Morgan. Thank you for teaching me to speak up first and be heard, to not hold back. 🌹

I just found this information regarding my wonderful science teacher that worked at Roosevelt Junior high school in Decatur Illinois. It was early 1970s. She was a special human. There will never be another like her. We love you and will never forget you Frankye Morgan!

Miss Morgan was the most enthusiastic teacher I can remember. I had Miss Morgan as a Science teacher at Roosevelt Jr High. She was a very quick runner….as she ran down many kids in the hall that were chewing gum. She made us all follow every rule ever put into place. Even though she was "tough"…she always brought a smile to our faces. She will be greatly missed by many!! RIP Miss Morgan….until we meet again.

I had Miss Morgan in 7th and 8th grade at Roosevelt Middle School. She was a great teacher and I always looked forward to her class. She didnt take and "crap" from anybody. Loved her!

With deep sorrow I say good bye to one of the most wonderful people who has touch my life, Ms. Morgan has made a great impression on the lives of many being a parent and gradparent she instill values into my life that I was able to pass down to two generations! Thank you Lord for allowing her life to touch mine! Maser keep her soul in yor loving care.

Often thought of Miss Morgan through the years and really didn't realize all she taught us as Jr. high kids. It was much more than we could have ever imagined as a 12 or 13 year old. so greatfull that I was in her class both of my years at Roosevelt. So very lucky to have known her!

I remeber Miss Morgan as well respected and feared teacher by all the seventh graders at Roosevelt. She Actually made you listen and learn in her classes. She will be missed

My sympathy to the family, friends, and also my fellow students who were in Miss Morgan's class at Centennial Junior High School in Decatur. Also, apparently Miss Morgan taught at other schools–my sympathy also to those students. Miss Morgan had a way of getting her message and an education across to the students–if you didn't know very much about the subject before you went into her classroom, you definitely knew about the subject when you passed and went on to the next grade! Miss Morgan lived her life to its best and upmost–she lived it well, and she was always willing to share her knowledge and abilities on to everyone who wanted to live a life well-lived. Miss Morgan, you will be missed. You have definitely been loved by all.
