Freddie Cobb's Obituary
Freddie Cobb, 86, World War II Army Veteran, died Friday, October 12, 2007 in Aspen Ridge Care Centre.
Services will be 12 pm Friday, October 19, 2007 in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 876 W. Pershing Road, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service with burial in Camp Butler National Cemetery Riverton, IL. with Military Rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard.
Freddie Cobb was born Aug. 11, 1921 in Sikeston, MO. the son of Allen Cobb and his mother "Pearly", both of whom preceded him in death. Freddie was raised in Blytheville, AR. graduating from Jones High School in North Little Rock, AR. He married Carlena Bruce on Dec. 18, 1949. To this union they bore 4 children: Lynda, Clark, Jeffery and Elrico. Freddie moved his family to Chicago, IL. in 1953. He worked at various jobs for Studebaker, Ford, Packard Hynes and finally after 22 years retiring from Shultz and Burch Bakery of Chicago in 1984. Over the years Freddie and his family attended meetings at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses with much consistency. He relocated to Decatur, IL. in 1988 where he and his wife resided until his death.
Freddie is survived by his wife, Carlena Bruce Cobb, his 4 children: Lynda R. Kent Portis of Decatur, Clark Barbara Cobb of Texas, Jeffery Patricia Cobb of Chicago and Elrico Cobb of Indiana. He is also survived by a half-brother, Leroy Cobb of Indiana and a half-sister, Wenette Carter of Harvey, IL. Freddie and Carlena were blessed with 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, several in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews, together with a host of friends and acquaintances.
