Gail John "G.J." Arndt's Obituary
Gail John “G.J.”Arndt, 37, of Decatur, passed away Friday, January 16, 2015 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
G.J. was born February 8, 1977 in Decatur, IL, the son of Tim and Mary Beth (Vemmer) Arndt. G.J. graduated from Illinois State University in Industrial Technology. He worked at Hooters and Doherty’s Pub. G.J. was a member of the Cerro Gordo Masonic Lodge No. 600 A.F. & A.M. He loved riding motorcycles in his free time, and he was a member of the Widow Sons Chapters Acacia and Inner Guard. He enjoyed playing golf, and watching the Chicago Cubs and the New England Patriots. In his spare time, G.J. would volunteer at the Humane Society in Decatur.
G.J. leaves behind his parents, Tim and Mary Beth Arndt of Decatur; brother, Shane Arndt and his wife Mindy of Fisher, IL; grandparents, Leon and Mary Vemmer of Decatur; uncle, Todd Vemmer; aunts, Cheryl Somers; Laurie Born; Shelley McMillen; niece and nephew, Kylan and Jesse Arndt; and long-time friend, Larry Krisher of Champaign.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Gail and Mickey Arndt.
Services to celebrate G.J.’s life will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of G.J. may be made to Decatur Cancer Care. The family request casual dress for the services.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Sebastien Kairouz and all the nurses at Decatur Cancer Care especially Vickie.
