Gary Lee Sanborn's Obituary
Decatur-Gary Lee Sanborn Sr., 70, of Decatur, passed away at 5:50 p.m. Thursday, September 22, 2011 at his home with his family by his side.
Services to celebrate Gary’s life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, October 8, 2011 in the VFW Post 99. Cremation will be accorded at Graceland/Fairlawn Crematory. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family in c/o Dianna Sanborn.
Gary was born September 14, 1941 in Shelbyville, the son of George J. and Virginia Scott Sanborn. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for twenty-one years where he was a bronze star recipient and Vietnam Veteran. He then was employed with Firestone and later became an OTR truck driver. He was a member of the Moose and VFW Post #99. Gary enjoyed NASCAR and the Chicago Bears. He married Dianna Holley July 28, 1995.
He leaves behind his wife Dianna, sons Gary Jr. and wife Valerie of Lincoln and Christopher and wife Judy of Norwich, Connecticut, daughter Sherrie Roderick and husband Rory of Tolono, sister Beverly Copass and husband Mike of Sullivan, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and his special friend JoJo his cat.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
