Gary L. Sheumaker's Obituary
Gary L. Sheumaker, 76, of Oakley, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Gary was born December 23, 1938 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of George H. and Freda (Tille) Sheumaker. He was previously employed as an engineer technician with the IL Division of Highways, an agent and telegrapher with the Wabash Railroad, and a draftsman and designer with A.E. Staley Manufacturing Company. He was a Cub Scout committeeman, little league assistant coach, and a 4-H assistant leader. Gary married Julie J. Pankey September 4, 1960. She preceded him in death December 20, 2012.
Gary leaves behind his son Gregory A. Sheumaker, daughter Debra A. Freeman (John), grandchildren Nash Freeman, Kayla Sheumaker, Katrina Freeman, Jami Sheumaker, Robert (BJ) Yette, and Lauren Bergdahl.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister Alice L. Willis, and daughter Kimberly K. Sheumaker.
Graveside services to celebrate Gary’s life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Arthur Cemetery in Arthur. Memorials are suggested to the Kim Sheumaker Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of the State Bank of Cerro Gordo.
