Gary A. Spyres' Obituary
Gary A. Spyres 47 of Decatur went to be with his Lord on April 26, 2008.
Memorial service celebrating Gary’s life will be 11:00 am Thursday May 1, 2008 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday in the funeral home. Private burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to South Shores United Methodist Church CARES Committee.
Gary was born on November 26, 1960 in Canton, IL. He was the beloved son of Gary G. and Linda L. Bordwine Spyres currently residing in Decatur, IL. He grew up in Decatur and graduated from Eisenhower High School. He worked as a Machinist at Cash Valve Company. until the plant closed. He was a machinist for Halliburton in Houston, TX and currently employed at Kopetz Manufacturing in Decatur. He was a member of Boilermakers Union #483.
Gary was baptized at Temple Baptist Church as a youth and he loved the Lord. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He supported Ducks Unlimited. He was also a proud member of AA.
Gary was fortunate to have a wonderful son Jason A. Spyres. He loved his son and his family.
Surviving are his son, Jason A. Spyres of Lincoln; parents, Gary G. and Linda L. Spyres of Decatur; sister, Theresa Collins Scott of Decatur; grandmother, Marie McWhorter of Decatur; one nieces, one nephew, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
