Gather Benard Warnsley's Obituary
Decatur-Gather “Buster” Bernard Warnsley Sr., 74, of Decatur, went to be with his Lord on Friday, October 16, 2015, in Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Gather was born August 21, 1941 in Forrest, MS, the son of Gather and Hazel (Harper) Warnsley. He graduated from Stephen Decatur High School and is one of the original “Running Reds” from the school. No one could keep up with him. After high school, Gather proudly served for his country in the United States Army. Gather was a proud family man who enjoyed living the simple life. He loved fishing and sitting on his porch to watch the sun rise while drinking his coffee. Gather also was an excellent artist who painted and drew pictures. He married Donna Brack on June 21, 2002 in Decatur. He will be dearly missed.
Gather leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Donna; sons, Keith (Michelle) Warnsley of Decatur; Gather “Toppie” B. Warnsley Jr. of Decatur; Galen Warnsley of Decatur; Terris Warnsley of Decatur; daughters, Kellie Miley of Oregon; Misty Warnsley of Decatur; Kim Dawson of Decatur; brother, Bob (Sharon) Warnsley of Decatur; sisters, Gwendolyn (Benjamin) Cooper of Bolingbrook, IL; Tonya (Kenneth) Portee of Colorado; special cousin, Tracy Stepney of Decatur; 31 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is reunited in Heaven with his parents; grandson, Christopher; granddaughter, Nubia; and great-grandson, Daniel.
Services to celebrate Gather’s life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
The family will like to give special thanks to the staff at Barnes Jewish Hospital and Decatur Memorial Hospital for all their kindness and care.
