George Booker's Obituary
George Edward Booker, Sr, 84, of Decatur, IL passed away December 23, 2023, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.
George was born August 9, 1939, in Taylorville, IL, the son of Walter and Carolina (Stimac) Booker. George was a veteran of the USMC. He married his wife, Diane, on March 17, 1978, in Stonington, IL.
George was a laborer for Firestone, retiring after 39 years of service. He held a love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was known to have a “green thumb” and enjoyed growing vegetables in his garden. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing and cooking with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Diane; children, Johnna Vincent (Scott) of Mt. Auburn, IL, Angelina Hanners of Decatur, IL, George Booker Jr (Brenda)of Decatur, IL; step daughter, Ramona Riley of Decatur, IL; step son, Darin Riley (Melissa) of Mt. Zion, IL; grandchildren, Nathan, Silvia, Brittany, Anthony, Tristan, Chandra, Sarah, Cameron, Rebecca, Vanessa, Brett, Nicholas and several great-grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Booker.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Friday December 29, 2023, at Moran and Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10 – 11 AM Friday at the Funeral Home. The burial will be at Macon County Memorial Park.
Memorials: St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital or Toy for Tots.
