George J. Klein's Obituary
George J. Klein, 94, of Decatur, passed away Friday, August 21, 2015, in Decatur Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.
George was born December 14, 1920, in Freeburg, IL, to George R. and Lena (Courar) Klein. He married Dolores C. Hausmann on October 20, 1956, in Belleville, IL. He was a U.S. Army veteran. George was a buyer for Illinois Power Company for 45 years. He retired in 1986. George was a charter member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council # 577, 4th degree Assembly # 0211, Golden K, past board member of Catholic Charities, past board member of Utility Employee Credit Union. He also enjoyed being a volunteer for Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Mary’s Hospital.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dolores; his two daughters, Lynn Marie (Terry) Corley of Decatur and Karen Klein of Decatur; and three granddaughters, Danielle, Katie and Michelle Corley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John Klein and one sister, Vera Barthel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Our Lady of Lourdes School or Golden K.
