George L. "Leon" Shotton's Obituary
Decatur- George “Leon” Shotton, 86, our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 06, 2015 in St. Mary’s Hospital.
George was born in July 29, 1929 in Stonington, IL., to the parents of George and Mable (Baughman) Shotton. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Joyce Shull on July 1, 1958 in Decatur, IL. She preceded him in death on July 3, 2014. They shared fifty-seven wonderful years together.
George was a devoted husband, father and grandpa. He worked for Tom’s Grill for over thirty-six years. He was an avid fisherman, and an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. George was honored to take part in going on the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight in August 2014. He was also honored to take part in the Ageless Aviation in 2015.
George leaves behind, not to morn his daughter, Angie (Tim) Brackett; son, Shane (Shalyn); grandchildren, Tiffany (Dustin) LeGrande, Timmy (Lori) Brackett of Simpsonville, SC., Justin (Teagan) Shull, Jeremy (Hanna); granddaughter, Megan; great-grandchildren, Austin, Halie, and Chloe Klaus, all of Decatur; Devin and MaKayla Brackett of Simpsonville, SC., Tory Davis of Decatur.
Dad, you will be greatly missed by all that loved and adored you.
George is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, parents, and daughter Robin.
Honoring George Shotton wishes, cremation services will be provided by the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home & Cremation Center. There will be no public services.
