George Myles McGonigle's Obituary
Decatur-George Myles McGonigle, 65, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2012 in Hickory Point Christian Village.
Graveside services to celebrate George's life will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012 in Graceland Cemetery with the 'Flight Home' Ceremony to conclude the service. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2012 in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
George was born March 30, 1947 in Macon County, the son of Myles Edward and Viola Marie (Lapp) McGonigle. He was previously employed with the City of Decatur Water Department as the water distribution supervisor retiring after thirty-five years of service. He was currently employed with Vactor Manufacturing a subsidiary of Federal Signal. He was a member of the Illinois Water Works Association. His passion was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid bowler who bowled a perfect 300 game. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and camping. He married Carol Ann Richter April 2, 1966.
He leaves behind his wife Carol, sons Myles McGonigle and wife Kathy and Bill McGonigle and wife Leslie, sisters Mary Ellen and Cassie McGonigle, and grandchildren Kenneth, George, Bianca, Rachel, Jacob, and Rylee.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents.
The family would like to thank Dr. Guaglianone, Dr. Elliot, and the nurses and staff at Hickory Point Christian Village for all of their compassionate care and a special thanks to Chris Cottingham for all that he did during George's illness.
