Gerald Myles Anderson's Obituary
Gerald Myles Anderson, 87, of Pana, Illinois, passed away May 15, 2025, at Prairie Rose Garden Nursing Home.
Gerald was born in Peoria on December 30, 1937, the son of Myles and Irma (Eaton) Anderson. He married Helen Hardesty on June 24, 1961, in Sparland, Illinois. She preceded him in death on December 20, 2024. Gerald served proudly in the U.S. Army after high school. He was a sheet metal worker and certified diesel mechanic. He was an accomplished builder and repairer of helicopters. In his free time, he enjoyed tinkering with old cars, riding motorcycles, reading and watching Westerns, and doing poker runs. He was a member of the American Legion and the Early Idlers Hot Rod Club.
Gerald is survived by his children Kimberly Rhodes of Decatur and Kenneth (Cindy) Anderson of Moweaqua, IL; 5 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother Duane Anderson.
Moran & Goebel Funeral Home is providing cremation services for Gerald. A Memorial Service will be held at 10am on Friday, May 30, at Moran & Goebel. Burial in Sparland Cemetery in Sparland, Illinois, will take place later in the day. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimers Association.
