Gerald E. "Jerry" Hettinger's Obituary
Gerald E. "Jerry" Hettinger, 81, of Decatur, died Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Hickory Point Christian Village.
Jerry was born April 18, 1931 in Decatur son of Earl and Helen (Henneberry) Hettinger. A Marine veteran and member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Jerry worked for Illinois Power before retiring in 1995. He married Linda M. Kistler May 28, 1965 in Decatur.
Surviving is his wife of 47 years, Linda; daughters: Sherry (David) Finley of Forsyth and Julie (Deniz) Piskin of Springfield; son, Douglas Hettinger of Dallas, TX; grandchildren: Ryan Finley, Scott Finley, Connor Piskin, Blake Finley, Brennan Piskin and Laci Piskin; sister, Martha McKinley of Decatur; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial celebrating his life will be 11 am, Wednesday, May 30, 2012 in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Rev. Richard Weltin celebrant. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with burial to follow in Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church .
