Gladys Marie Wilkerson-Reed's Obituary
Decatur-Gladys Marie Wilkerson-Reed, 100 of Decatur, passed away Monday, August 8, 2011 at Fair Havens Nursing Home. She gave her soul to Jesus many years ago and looks forward joining her Lord and Savior in Heaven.
Services to celebrate Gladys’ life will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services. Interment will be at Macon County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Gladys was born December 11, 1910, the daughter of Oliver and Viola Sparkman Felker in southern Illinois, where she grew up, met, and married Charles Gilbert Wilkerson. She became a homemaker, farmer, and mother of seven. The family moved to Decatur in 1945 where Mr. Wilkerson worked at ADM until his retirement. He preceded her in death in 1960. She married Forrest Reed in 1955. He retired from the Illinois Terminal Rail Road and preceded her in death in 1978.
Gladys leaves not to mourn, but cherish the fond memories held by her children, Richard Eugene Wilkerson and wife Delores of Maroa, Charles Wilkerson of Maroa, James Wilkerson and wife Judy of Decatur, Clara Waite and husband Ron of Decatur, daughter-in-law, Barbara Wilkerson of Decatur, and step-daughters, Betty Hampton of Decatur and Carol Isaacs of Decatur. Gladys was also blessed with seventeen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
She was reunited in Heaven with her parents, eight brothers and sisters, infant daughter, Irene, daughter, Mary Booker Massey, son, Donald L. Wilkerson, great-granddaughter, Anna Wilkerson, and stepsons, Charles and Richard Reed.
The family would like to thank Fair Havens Christian Home for the very special and loving care she received while living there.
