Gordon E. Taylor's Obituary
Decatur- Gordon E. Taylor, 91, of Decatur passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Imboden Creek Living Center.
A service to celebrate the life of Gordon will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home, visitation will start at 10:00 a.m. till the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Teresa Scholarship Fund.
Gordon was born April 11, 1920 on Evergreen Farm in Mt Vernon, Ohio, the son of John Wallace and Maye Taylor. He proudly served his country in the U.S Army during WWII. Gordon graduated from Ohio State University, and retired from Caterpillar Tractor as an Engineer. He married Gertrude Crist in Chicago, IL January 24, 1953.
He is survived by his son, Stephen W. Taylor, daughters, Rebecca Douglas, Barbara Spaans and husband Leo, and Deborah Seremek and husband David, grandchildren, Andrea Adams and husband Brian, Matthew Cooley and wife Katy, Celeste Spaans and husband Kent Butcher, Jared Spaans, and David Seremek, great-grandchildren, Emily and Michael Adams, and Liam and Aiden Cooley.
Gordon was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
Gordon will also be remembered by his breakfast buddies, the Friday night group, and many friends as a gracious man who was always interested in a good conversation.
