Grant Eugene Schenkel's Obituary
Grant Eugene Schenkel 84 of Decatur died May 18, 2007 in St. Mary's Hospital.
Funeral services celebrating Grant's life will be Noon on Monday May 21, 2007 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be 2:00 - 4:00 pm Sunday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery with Military Honors. Memorial gifts are suggested to Harvest Temple Church of God or the American Cancer Society.
Grant was born on December 1, 1922 in Westervelt, IL the son of Phillip and Gertrude Rice Schenkel. He was an active member of Harvest Temple Church of God. He worked as a custodial foreman for Decatur Public Schools retiring in 1987. Grant served his country proudly during WWII in the U.S. Navy. He married Ethel Baugher in November 15, 1941 in Shelbyville, IL she preceded him in death on February 6, 1998.
Surviving are his sons, Ronald E. Schenkel Irene of Decatur; Philip C. Schenkel Donna of Decatur; Jack L. Schenkel Diane of Decatur; daughters, Sandra K. Haseley Steven of Decatur; Tina M. Redman K. Gene of Decatur, L. Susie Schlosser of Bethany; sister, Maxine Howard of Dalton City; ten grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter, Sharon Lee Schenkel, one brother, and two sisters.
