Gus Cox's Obituary
Gus Cox Jr., 86, of Decatur passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017 in St. Mary’s Hospital.
Gus was born on August 26, 1930 in Little Rock, AR the son of Gus Cox Sr. And Lena C. (Bell) Cox. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and yard work. He retired from Wagner Castings after many years of service.
He leaves to cherish fond memories, son: Vincent E. Cox (Bridgitte), daughters: Evelyn Harris, Cecelia Shaw, Gwen Cox (Albert Curie), Lisa Callaway, and Angela Carey, brother-in-law, Willie Jelks, grandchildren: Donita Harris, Renee Wilson, Keith Shaw (Carolyn), Christropher Shaw, Roslyn Wicks, Kenya Wicks, Albert Cox Jr., Wayne Cox, Shemeka Manley, Kayla Cox, Kyle Cox, Solomon Cox, Vincent Cox Jr., Gabrielle Cox, Ariella Cox, Marques Ware, Darien Callaway, Dan’ Nayshia Knight, and Adwoah Fosu, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lee Ella Cox, daughter, Celestine Wicks, grand-daughter, Oletha Cox, 11 brothers, 3 sisters, and one brother-in-law.
Homegoing service to celebrate Gus’ life will be 11 AM Friday, March 3, 2017 in the Church of the Living God PGT Temple #1. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Thursday in Moran & Goebel Funeral home and 10-11 AM Friday in the church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Cancer Care Specialist of Central Illinois.
